Disposal Options

Old fiberglass, wood, or plastic boats can be disposed of as trash at the District Transfer Station in Middlebury. Metal boats and metal boat motors can be recycled at the Transfer Station as scrap metal. Please call us at (802) 388-2333 before bringing a boat to the Transfer Station since some size restrictions or limitations may apply.

Note: the fuel tank and any inboard or outboard motor must be completely removed from motorized boats. Appliances such as refrigerators and ranges must also be removed

Other options include:

  • Contact a local marina to see if they need the boat for parts (look in the phone book under “marinas” for information)

  • If your boat is made of metal or aluminum a local scrap metal recycler such as Earth Waste & Metal may be interested in taking it off your hands.
