Yard Waste

This item is banned from disposal in the trash in Vermont and requires special recycling.  

Disposal Options

Loads of leaves, grass clippings, pine needles, garden waste, small amounts of sod, and other non-woody yard and garden debris are accepted at the District Transfer Station. Twigs in the yard waste should be no larger in diameter than a pencil. Bags must be emptied of their contents. Residents may check with their town clerk or the local fire warden for restrictions on open burning of yard waste.

Leaf and yard waste can also be composted at home


Leaf & Yard Waste

  • Grass clippings, leaves, small twigs — 3 cubic yards or less: $1 per load
  • Over 3 cubic yards: $10 per load
