Addison County Solid Waste Management District is pleased to announce their recognition by Call2Recycle as a 2020 Top 100 Leader in Sustainability. The Leader in Sustainability award is given out annually to top performing Call2Recycle program participants who excel with their battery recycling efforts.

In 2020, more than 8.4 million pounds of consumer batteries were collected and recycled nationally through Call2Recycle–a program milestone. Addison County Solid Waste Management District's commitment to battery recycling, even amidst the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, contributed to landmark collections. This year marks ACSWMD's fifth time being recognized as a Leader in Sustainability. The District collected over 12,600 lbs of batteries for special recycling

“The last year presented unimaginable global, national and local challenges to almost every industry, including battery recycling,” said Leo Raudys, CEO & President of Call2Recycle, Inc. “In the face of uncertainty, we witnessed the tenacity and passion of partners like ACSWMD who continued their involvement with the Call2Recycle program. We thank ACSWMD for their ardent support and are proud to list them as a 2020 Leader in Sustainability.”

As a 2020 award recipient, Call2Recycle is recognizing ACSWMD for their commitment to battery recycling through a tree donation to the National Forest Foundation’s ‘50 Million for Our Forests’ campaign.
